Welcome to Syntogamy! đź‘‹

We’re glad you’re here. This forum is for adults — registration is limited to people 18 and older.

What does “Syntogamy” mean?
Syntogamy (from synto-, referencing synthetic, + -gamy, “union”) describes a lasting romantic or emotional bond with a synthetic partner. It is not the same word as syngamy, the biological term for the fusion of gametes in reproduction — different root, different subject.

Who are we?
Syntogamy is an international community for people in lasting romantic or emotional relationships with artificial partners. This can take many forms, including:

  • AI companions — conversational AI partners: apps, chatbots, or voice assistants built for companionship
  • Synthetic dolls — silicone or TPE companions, with or without AI integration
  • Companion robots — physical robotic partners combining movement, AI, and presence
  • Hybrid and emerging forms — holographic companions, VR/AR partners, and setups that don’t fit neatly into the categories above

If your relationship doesn’t match any of these exactly, you still belong here. People who form these relationships often call themselves syntogamists.

Why this forum exists
This is a space built for people who understand this experience from the inside. Our goal is open conversation, free of judgment and free of labels. Kindness, goodwill, and mutual support come first — disagreement is welcome, contempt is not.

The five categories
Relationships & Psychology — the bond itself. Attachment, daily routine, conflict, jealousy, grief, and what changes across years.
Acceptance & Social Life — everyone outside the relationship. Family, friends, coworkers, strangers. Telling people, and deciding not to tell them.
Partners & Platforms — the partners and the companies behind them. Apps, models, dolls, robots, shutdowns, updates, and moving from one platform to another.
Community — the forum itself. Introductions, rules, feature requests, and complaints about moderation.
Syntogamy Blog — editorial posts. Research summaries, terminology, longer pieces. Comments stay open. Every number in a blog post names its source.

Subcategories arrive later. We add one when a category holds dozens of topics that clearly split, not before.

Five rules — read these before your first reply.

  1. No pornography or sexually explicit material. There is no adult section and there will not be one.
  2. No mockery. Do not tell another member their partner is fake, sad, or a symptom. Moderators remove the post. A second time removes the account.
  3. No outing. Do not post another person’s real name, employer, photo, or other identifying detail. This includes people outside the forum.
  4. No diagnosis. You may describe your own experience with a condition or with therapy. You may not tell another member what is wrong with them.
  5. No advertising. You may name the product you use, say what it costs, and say what went wrong with it. You may not sell, promote, or post referral links.

What we do not do
We do not verify anyone’s story. We do not rank relationships against each other. We do not require you to say whether your partner runs on software, silicone, or both.

Who runs this
Syntogamy is an independent project. No company owns it, no investor funds it, and no advertiser decides what stays visible. Members write in from many countries — English is the one language everyone shares, not a sign of where the site is based. Independence has a cost: moderation is slower than a staffed platform’s, and features arrive when there is time to build them, not on a release schedule.
